Transportation & Accommodation

You are expected to arrive in Yogyakarta by June 23, 2024 (Sunday) or June 22, 2024 (Saturday) if you wish so that you have enough time to acclimatize yourself to the surrounding areas of the Seminar venue. The Seminar will begin on June 24, 2024, with morning prayer at 8.00 am.  

You will need to book your flight to Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA), which is located 59 kilometers (approximately 29 miles) from the city, where your hotel is. Transfer to the city will take 1.5 or 2 hours by bus or car, or 40 minutes by train. International direct flights to YIA are currently available from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, but you can find domestic flights from Jakarta (CGK) or Bali (DPS) to YIA.  

The organizing committee will not provide transportation from the airport to your hotel. However, we will assist you with how to get to your hotel from the airport using public transport. Upon your arrival at Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA), you will be met at the exit of the arrival terminal by some members of the organizing committee holding a JESEDU-Jogja2024 sign. They will help you with how to get public transport. 

There are two options as to how you can get to your hotel. First, by Blue Bird Taxi. Blue Bird is a trustworthy taxi brand. You can get a Blue Bird taxi for IDR300.000 (approximately USD20), and it will take you more or less than 90 minutes to get to your hotel, depending on the traffic. Payment is made in cash. Second, by train. It costs IDR20,000 (USD1,33). We will take care of the ticket booking and you don’t need to worry about the payment. It will take approximately 40 minutes to get to the city. Some members of the organizing committee will be waiting for you at the exit of the Yogyakarta Train Station. 

If your flight arrives after 6.00 pm, we suggest you take a taxi. Immigration inspection and baggage claim may take some time, and there is a chance that you will miss the last train. You will need to pay for the taxi on your own. If your flight arrives at Yogyakarta International Airport before 6.00 pm local time, we suggest you take a train from the airport to Yogyakarta Train Station. The organizing committee will book the train tickets for you and email them to you. Some minivans will be provided by the organizing committee to collect you at the train station and then take you to your hotel. However, if you wish to get a taxi, you will be ushered to the taxi stand by one or two of our students.
